Thuto Centre, located outside of Bela Bela in Limpopo required new hostels and existing kitchen and dining hall upgrades. We were engaged by our friends at Local Studio to design 2 new double story accommodation blocks using the relatively new Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) building blocks in order to construct a lightweight and quick to build structure. This came with new challenges and design codes but to date is one of the largest standalone AAC structures in the country.
